Escape the rain with FREE family fun at intu Eldon Square and intu Metrocentre this Easter

I am so sick of the rain! My Facebook feed has been filled with new soft play / activity centres opening left, right and centre with warning notices saying they are all extremely busy. Visiting soft play when it rains is really not my idea of fun but sometimes needs must as it can feel like there's not much else to do. I always end up spending a fortune though and with entry and lunch for three kids I can expect to pay around £50 these days. Yikes! I've been on the lookout for soft play alternatives that won't break the bank and these two events organised by intu caught my eye - especially as they are FREE!

Escape the rain with FREE family fun at intu Eldon Square and intu Metrocentre this Easter

Join Alice in Wonderland for FREE Family Fun at intu Eldon Square

  •  Wednesday 11 April

Join intu Eldon Square between 11am - 4pm for  'A right royal game of croquet'. Shoppers will be invited to challenge the Queen of Hearts (don't worry - everyone will keep their heads).

  • Thursday 12 April

intu Eldon Square is hosting a celebratory un-birthday 'Par-Tea' where children can enjoy mad stories, decorate cookies and experiment with potions.

Both of these events are FREE and available on a drop-in basis - Find out more here. If you're looking to make a day of it, check out my guide to where kids eat free this Easter or how about trying PizzaStorm where you can buy a pizza with unlimited toppings for just £5.95 (check out my review here)?

Free Panto Fun at intu Metrocentre

intu Metrocentre is inspiring young shoppers to dream big in its latest free Metrognomes adventure, with an epic tale of a miniature adventure - Honey, I Shrunk the Metrognomes.  There are four performances every day (near Primark) from 9 - 13 April (12noon, 2pm, 4pm and 6:30pm) and families can expect fun, music, dancing and games. These performances are completely free of charge.

As well as enjoying fun with the Metrognomes, families can make use of intu Metrocentre's FREE outdoor play area  (if there's a respite from the rain) or download a fun maths trail to complete around the centre here.  There's also quite a few different offers available at Namco Funscape including Easter Bowling for just £3.50 pp (find out more here). I can also highly recommend checking out Odeon Kids Club where films are available for just £3.25. If you're looking for a cheap bite to eat, our budget restaurant of choice is Barburrito - they are currently running a Groupon deal where you can buy a Burrito, tortilla chips and a soft drink for just £5. You can pick your own fillings so it's perfect for fussy tweens/teens. Find out more about the Groupon deal here.

Let me know if you're planning on heading to either of these events.
